On behalf of the firefighters of the Windsor Fire Department I would like to welcome you to our new web site. I trust you will find it very interesting and informative.

The Windsor Fire Department has protected the citizens of the Town of Windsor since 1881. In 1951 the Windsor Fire Department took on the additional responsibility of protecting the citizens of part of the surrounding Municipality of the District of West Hants. Our Department serves the town population of 3800 and 8000 citizens in the portion of West Hants that we protect. At full strength our department has 85 members working out of one main station and one substation to cover some 60 square mile radius. As you view our web site you will see that our volunteers are very dedicated. They continually train to maintain and upgrade the much needed skills that are required of them in the ever changing fire service. The Windsor Fire Department not only provides the so called normal fire fighting, but also rescue and specialty team responses. The local RIT team is made up of our members and fire fighters from the neighboring departments of Brooklyn and Hantsport. Our boat team is backed up by the Hantsport and Summerville fire departments, which each have boat teams. Our department is also regularly called upon to provide mutual aid responses to other surrounding areas. With all of these demands our department answers over 350 calls per year.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Windsor Fire Department is to provide protection to the citizens of the Town of Windsor and the Municipality of the District of West Hants. We pledge to do our utmost to protect thier property from the ravages of fire and other emergencies and to educate them in the benefits of fire prevention. We are committed to provide our services to all citizens of the area unselfishly, keeping in mind at all times the safety and best interests of the Community.
